🌸記念の桜は、今年もそこに――大河原公園にて
おはようございます、飴屋のかんばん娘です。
「先週の土曜日、一目千本桜が満開だと聞いて、並木道を歩いてました。
町内は、車で訪れる人たちで大渋滞でしたが、
私はいつものように徒歩で向かったので、スムーズに並木道にたどり着けました。」
と、そんな話を週が明けた本日（月曜日）の朝、社長にしたところ――
社長がふっと笑いながら、こう言いました。
「こっちは車でおまつり会場に行こうとしたら、大渋滞で全然進めなくてさ。
代わりに、あの桜は見てきたけどね」
🌸あの桜、今ではすっかり“町の桜”らしくなっていました。
“あの桜”とは、2019年3月に蔵王の昔飴本舗が創業60周年を記念して植えた桜の木。
場所は、一目千本桜とはまた違った趣の桜が楽しめて、地元の人たちにとっては憩いの場所にもなっている――大河原公園です。
🌸６０周年を迎えた春、大河原公園に記念の1本を植樹―
植樹したのは、ちょうど5年前の春。
「これからも地域とともに歩んでいこう」
そんな想いを込めて、若木をそっと手にした社長の姿が、当時の写真に残っています。
青空の下、蔵王連峰がきれいに見えていたあの日。
細い枝の先に、これからの未来をそっと重ねるような、そんな1枚でした。
🌸大河原公園で出会った、もうひとつの春
土曜日に撮影した写真をいただきました。
大河原公園は、野球場やスケートパークなどがある、地元の人に親しまれている公園です。
春には、そばにある白石川沿いの桜並木もきれいで、お散歩コースとしても人気があります。
曇り空ではありますが、
桜が満開の時期でもあるので、例年のように親子連れなどで賑わっていたとのこと。
一目千本桜のおおがわら桜まつりと異なり、落ち着いた雰囲気のなかで、
記念の桜と向き合う時間が、静かに流れていたようです。
🌸変わらず咲いてくれることの、ありがたさ
思い返せば、この記念桜を植えた翌年の2020年1月頃から、
新型コロナウイルスが広がり、日々の暮らしも大きく変わりました。
それでも、この桜は毎年春になると変わらず咲き続けてくれていて、
「変わらないものがある」ということが、
どれほど心を支えてくれるのか、改めて感じさせてくれます。
あの桜が咲くたびに、
あの春の日の想いと、今を照らす希望が、そっと重なる気がします。
🌧️ 今日こそ、満開の桜と出会えるかも
さて、本日の大河原町の天気ですが、午前中は弱い雨が降っていたものの、午後からは晴れ間がのぞきそうな予報が出ています。
明日は曇り、もしくは小雨の予報なので、の午後から夜にかけてが、満開の桜を楽しめるチャンスかもしれません。
まだ、おおがわら桜まつり期間中なので、夜にはライトアップも実施されています。
雨上がりのしっとりとした空気のなかで見る満開の桜も、また格別です。

今年も、あの桜が咲いてくれたこと。
その桜の下で、社長がそっと手を添えていたこと。
それだけで、今年の春もちゃんと“飴屋の春”になった気がしています。
また来年も、きっとこの桜の下で・・・。

Good morning, this is the Ame-shop’s poster girl speaking.
“Last Saturday, I heard that the Hitome Senbonzakura was in full bloom,
so I went out for a walk along the row of cherry trees.
The roads in town were packed with cars and people,
but since I always go on foot, I had no trouble reaching the path.”
Then, this morning (Monday), when I shared that story with the president,
he smiled softly and said,
“I tried to drive to the festival grounds, but the traffic was completely stuck.
So instead, I went to see that cherry tree.”

“That cherry tree” is a cherry tree planted in March 2019 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Mukashi Ame Honpo in Zao.
The tree was planted in Ogawara Park, a place of relaxation for locals where you can enjoy cherry blossoms with a different feel to those at Hitome Senbonzakura.

The tree was planted exactly five years ago in the spring.
A photograph from that time shows the president gently holding a sapling with the thought, “Let’s continue to walk together with the community.”
That day, under a blue sky, the Zao mountain range was clearly visible.
It was a photo in which the future was gently superimposed on the tip of the thin branch.
【🌸Another spring I encountered at Ogawara Park】
We received some photos taken on Saturday.
Ogawara Park is a popular park among locals, with a grassy plaza, tennis courts, and an observation deck.
In spring, the rows of cherry trees are beautiful and it’s a popular walking course.
Despite the cloudy sky,
the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so the park was bustling with families as usual.
Unlike the Hitome Senbonzakura Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival,
time passed quietly as people gazed upon the commemorative cherry blossoms in a calm atmosphere.
【🌸The gratitude of blooming without change】
Looking back, starting around January 2020, the year after this commemorative cherry tree was planted,
the spread of COVID-19 began, and our daily lives changed dramatically.
But even so, this cherry tree continues to bloom every spring,
making me realize once again how much comfort there are in the knowledge that “some things remain unchanging.”
Every time that cherry tree blooms,
I feel as if the feelings of that spring day and the hope that illuminates the present gently overlap.

As for the weather in Ogawara-cho today, there was light rain in the morning,
but the forecast is for sunshine to peek through in the afternoon.
Tomorrow is forecast to be cloudy with light rain,
so this afternoon or evening may be your chance to enjoy the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
The Ogawara Cherry Blossom Festival is still in progress, so the trees are lit up in the evening.
The cherry blossoms in full bloom seen in the moist air after the rain are also a special sight.
If you have the time, please come and visit.
That the cherry blossoms have bloomed again this year.
And that our president was gently placing his hand beneath the cherry blossom.
Just that alone makes it feel like this spring has properly been “Ameya’s spring.”
And next year, too, I’m sure it will be beneath these cherry blossoms…
