大河原町にも、少しずつ春の気配が感じられるようになってきました♪
桜はまだだけど、つぼみたちが「そろそろかな？」って、ふくらみ始めていて、とってもかわいいんですよ〜🌸
白石川の堤を歩いていると、遠くにそびえる蔵王連峰が、まだ少し雪をかぶっていて、春と冬が隣り合わせのような、そんな景色に心がほっとします。
皆さんも既にご存じかと思いますが、この町には、「白石川堤一目千本桜（しろいしがわづつみ ひとめせんぼんざくら）」という、町自慢の桜スポットがあります。
この桜並木は、大正12年に地元の実業家・高山開治郎さんの寄贈により植樹されたのが始まり。
全長約8キロの桜並木は、満開になるとピンクのトンネルみたいに華やかで、「ひと目で千本の桜が見えるほど美しい」という意味が名前の由来なんです。
「白石川堤一目千本桜」は、昭和28年、半沢軍太郎さんによって名付けられたそうですよ💡
今では町のシンボルとして親しまれ、毎年春には「おおがわら桜まつり」も開催されているんです🌸夜桜のライトアップやお花見弁当など、春の風物詩として多くの人でにぎわうイベントなんですよ♪
そんな桜まつりや観光イベントで大活躍しているのが、町の観光PRキャラクター「さくらっきー」🌸🦢
桜の花びらの頭に、白鳥の顔、梅の体をもつ、大河原町の春を彩る妖精さんです。
運が良ければイベント会場で出会えるかも…？
そんな桜並木のすぐ近くで、わたしたち「蔵王の昔飴本舗」は今日もコトコト飴を手づくり中🍬
昭和34年からずっと、地元・宮城の素材にこだわって、やさしい無添加飴を作っています。春限定の「桜飴」も大河原町観光物産協会さんの売店で販売予定🌸
お口に入れた瞬間、ふんわり広がる桜の香りで、一足先に春気分をお楽しみいただけますよ♪
お祭り会場とは少し離れている工場直営店は【9:00〜17:00】営業。基本は「土・日・祝」お休みですが、おおがわら桜まつり期間中では４月５日（土）は営業しています。
ただし、自動販売機は【24時間】いつでも飴が買えちゃいますよ🍭✨
それからもうひとつ。すぐ近くには「萩の月」や「伊達絵巻」で有名な菓匠三全さんの工場と直営店もあります。桜を眺めながら、スイーツめぐりも楽しめるなんて…ちょっと贅沢ですよね💕
春本番までは、あともう少し。
蔵王を望む白石川のほとりで、桜もスイーツも出番をそわそわと待っています。
春を少し先取りした“さきどり旅”、ぜひ大河原町にお越しくださいね。

Spring is slowly starting to feel in Ogawara Town ♪
The cherry blossoms haven’t bloomed yet, but the buds are starting to swell, and they’re so cute 🌸
Walking along the banks of the Shiroishi River, the Zao mountain range towering in the distance is still covered in a little snow, and the scenery of spring and winter side by side is heartwarming.
As you may already know, this town has a cherry blossom spot called “Shiroishi River Bank Hitome Senbonzakura (Shiroishi River Bank Hitome Senbonzakura)”.
These cherry blossom trees were planted in 1923 as a donation from local businessman Kaijiro Takayama.
The cherry blossom line stretches for about 8 kilometers, and when in full bloom, it looks like a gorgeous pink tunnel, and its name comes from the fact that it is so beautiful that you can see a thousand cherry blossoms at a glance.
The “Shiraishigawa Tsutsumi Hitome Senbonzakura” was named by Guntaro Hanzawa in 1953. 💡
It is now a familiar symbol of the town, and the “Ogawara Sakura Festival” is held every spring. 🌸
It is a popular event that attracts many people as a spring tradition, with night illuminations of the cherry blossoms and cherry blossom viewing bento lunches. ♪
The town’s tourism PR character “Sakurakki” plays a major role in the cherry blossom festival and tourist events. 🌸🦢
With a cherry blossom petal head, a swan face, and a plum body, Sakurakki is a fairy that colors the spring of Ogawara Town.
If you’re lucky, you might meet her at the event venue…?
Right next to these cherry blossom trees, we at “Zao no Mukashi Ame Honpo” are still making Kotokoto candy today. 🍬💕
Since 1959, we have been making gentle, additive-free candy using local ingredients from Miyagi.
The spring-only “Sakura Ame” will also be on sale at the Ogawara Town Tourism and Products Association’s shop🌸
The moment you put it in your mouth, the soft scent of cherry blossoms will spread, allowing you to enjoy the spring feeling a little early♪
The factory store, which is a little far from the festival venue, is open from 9:00 to 17:00. It is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, but it will be open on Saturday, April 5th during the Ogawara Sakura Festival.
However, you can buy candy from the vending machines 24 hours a day🍭✨
And one more thing. The factory and store of Kasho Sanzen, famous for “Hagi no Tsuki” and “Date Emaki”, are located nearby.
It’s a bit luxurious to be able to enjoy a sweet tour while looking at the cherry blossoms💕
It’s just a little longer until spring arrives.
On the banks of the Shiraishi River overlooking Zao, the cherry blossoms and sweets are waiting for their turn.
